Heisenberg is......

Well its been a few month since we celebrated the revenge and mourned the death of Heisenberg.

Walter White went from meek and mild to spicy and wild.  By the time he told us in season four that he wasn't in danger but that he was the danger we already knew what he was capable of.

Guess I got what I deserve......

Yes you did.  We loved you and rooted for you but you were responsible for thousands of ruined lives ,as well as the deaths over almost 272 people.

Michael Corleone once said, "I did it for my wife and kids. I did it for my family.", and so did Walter.  But one thing they both had in common, for everything they fought for and for all of their own misguided corruption and all the money they acquired they both still died alone.

Michael in Sicily and Walter on the floor of some make shift meth lab.

So lets take stock in what was lost....

Walter Jr and his baby sister have no father. Even though he was aware his father was dying, he could have died with a close relationship in tact, but Walter fucked that up.

Skylar lost her husband, her home and still possibly her own freedom.

Marie lost Hank.

Hank lost his life.

Gomez lost his life.

Mike lost his life.

Jesse lost everyone he loved, his own freedom, his own innocence and is probably damaged goods for the rest of his life.  I felt such a small and minor victory when he drove away at the end.  Once he stopped driving, where would he be?

Sure others lost their lives, but these people were in direct view of Walter's corruption and they paid his price.

In the Soprano's basically everyone that died or suffered did so because they chose a lifestyle that dictated death and suffering, but Walt made the choice for himself and his family and therefore pulled them into a world they did not want and did not belong.

Walt left so many unneeded victims.  What was glossed over were the endless amounts of addicts he created or enabled and the people that suffered as a result.

One man making meth destroyed, altered or confused thousands upon thousands of lives and for what?  To take care of his family? NOT REALLY....

Because he liked it, because he was good at it.

We all want to be remembered for something.  We all want to be good at something....

But Walter White will always be remembered as Heisenberg, the murderous, treacherous, vindictive,
genius who destroyed everything and everyone around him.

Not quite the legacy one would want, and not the legacy Walt expected.
